Miss Louise Payne went to Ann . hor last Friday to visit friends, 1 türning home Wednesday. Laura and Glen Sherwood, of Clinton, are visiting friends and relatives in town. ■ i Mis Wm. Lehr and children are spending the week at Sand lake, visitiag her sister, Mrs. N. Schnaid. Mis. Bert Anisden went to Detroit List week to visit friends. Sbe was accompanied to Ypsilanti by her children, who are visiting their grand-parents. The Universalista Sunday school willhold a picnic at Wampler s lake, next Wednesday, Aug. 29. The Emanuel's Sunday school will hold a picnic in Schmid'a grove next Thursday, Aug. 80. Mrs. E. Conklin and friends, of I Clinton, have been camping at W pler's lake. Miss Mattie Scott, of Muskeon, who has been visiting at her uncle 8, H. Kingsley's, the past weeks, returned home. Every one is longing for rain. In spiteoc the dry weather the evemngs are very cool. Miss Diehl, of Ann Arbor, visited in town the iirst of the week. Rev. Geo. Schoettle will go to Adrian next Sunday to preach. Mr. Bremeon, of Freedom will preach at the Emauuel church. Geo. Shenvood has moved his billiard table into the store at the corner of Jefferson and Ann Arbor streets. Master Eddie Nisle went to Ilillsdale to visit a few days. Katie Nisle rcturned from Toledo last week. Miss Anna Braun and sister, Lydia, are visiting relatives at Clinton. Henry Kirchhofer has shipped over 80,000 pounds ot' wool to eastern milis, and expects to purchase so as to have 100,000 pounds before closing. Emma Schaible, Anna Marx and Amanda Schoettle are visiting frionds in Ann Arbor. A number of young meu went to Ann Arbor to attend the teachers' examination. Prof. Evan Essery and family returned from their visit last Tuesday. They spent seven weeks visiting relatives. Mae Aylesworth is visiting friends near VVampler's lake the past week. Rev. Geo. Schoettle and Rev. L. von Rague, of Belleville, 111., drove to Ann Arbor, Tuesday, to spend a few days with Rev. J. Neumanu. Last Friday the base ball nine of Napoleon and the nine of Hrooklyu, played against the Manchester nine. üur boys were successful in both games. Only one more week of vacation. fupils from the country wishing to enter the High school and having no certificate from the countycommisdioner, should attend the examination at the school building, Saturday, Sept. 1. Mr. Geo. Unterkircher and others aie Ousy tearin down the Union hall block. The building of the new block The building of the new block will begin at once. It is not yet decidec wliether it will be a two or'three story building.
