Mary Bell, of Ann Arbor; was entertained by Dexter friends, Wednesday. J. W. Bosier. of Jackson, is spending a few days wito relatives. Mrs. Hiller and family of Detroit, are among their friends. Mr. Collins and wife have eturned from their visit at Concord. Mis. Howe and danghter, of Canada, will spend a lew weeks with R. Erwin and family. Chris. Brogan and wife. of Marión, spent Sunday with lier motlier and sister, Win. Co'ib and wife are ente'rtaining their danghter and family, from Jack.son. The many friends of Mrs. tilias. Coy, formerly of thi's village, now of Jackson. are sorry to learn she is dangerously ill with typhoid fever. Miss E. J. Rockwell, of Geddes, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. James Howe. Mrs. Jo'.-m McCabe entertained friends the latter part of the week. Mrs. Campbell and daughter. of Superior, spent Saturday and Sunday with E. Campbell and family. Mr. Eaglps, of Wyandotte, will move his family here in the uear future. Mr. Cudwell and family, of Pinckney, spent Sunday at the Portage. Misses Jessie and Anna Doane spent Wednesday iu Hudson. Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Campbell were Pettysville visitors, Weduesday. O. A. Vaughn and family spent last Sabbath with his parents in Webster. C. Goodwin, of Ann Arbor, called on Dexcer friends this week. Ben Lañe, of Jackson, has been visiting his oíd friends. Mr. Green, wife and family, of Jackson. are guests of relatives iu this vicinity. James McNamara was in Detroit on Monday. II. V. Newkirk and family spent Saturdav with her father. John Ledwedge and iamily are entertaining friends for a short time. Misses Josie Higgins and Phena Costello were Pinckney yisitors one day recently. The Misses Fleming are entertaininsr their cousin for a few days. The Lutheran Sunday-school enjoyed a picnic at Portage Lake on VVedneslay of last week. Prof. E. N Bilbie, of Ann Arbor, is ca'nping at Portage lake. IJ Plielps and wife, of Scio, were wit li friends here, Sunday. Mr. Lavey and family were at Silver Lake last Sunday, visiting relatives. Mr.Wadhams and family M Mr. Easton and family are enjoying a few days camping at the lakes. R. B. íloney and wife were Pinckney visitors one day last week. Mr. Palmer was at Hudson the first of the week. Mrs. A. Voorhis and grandson spent Thursday in Lima. Chas. Bell. of Ann Arbor, was here oa avisit the last of the week. Miss Carrie Irwin is spending two weeks with her aunt in Jackson. John Gallagher and wife have gone fo: a two days' stav in the northern part of the state. P. Farnham and son, of Piuckney, greted friends Tuesday. Chas. Carpenter and wife spent several days of this week in Ann Arbor, Miss Gracie Kenney is spending the week with her grandfather, S. O. Hadley. Mr. Hayden is visiting at the home of Mrs üawson. Dennis Warner is erecting a fine new windmül on nis premises. The Congregational Sunday school held at picnic at Mr3. James' cottage, Tuesday, at Base lake. Mrs. Lutzer and children are home after a few days' stay with relatives in Lodi. Mr. Lutzer spent Sunday with friends at that place. Jacob Jedele had the misfortune to break his leg last Monday while helpiag to move a threshing separator on the Spiegelberg farm. He is gaining rapidly and will soon be out again. The remains of Mrs. McXaniaia, of Bay City, were brought here tor burial lastTuesday morning. iShe was well known in this yillage and leaves a large uumber of relatives to mourn ber loss. The Webster Sunday-scliools, numbering about three hundred, held a ucnic at Portage Lake last Saturday. junch was served at noon, and games vere indulged in by both voung and old uutil late in the day, and all re,urned to their homes. Miss Maggie McGue died at her ïome in this village, August 11 th, after a few days' illness. The funeral services were held in St. Josepb's church, Tuesday morning, Kev. Fr. Fleming assisted by Bev. Fr. Kelly, of Ann Arbor, and Rev. Fr. Goldrick, of Northneld, preached the sermón. The remains were placed in the vault. Charles Simms died at the home of his parents in Webster, August 16, aged 20 years. The funeral services took place f rom the M. E. church on Saturday afternoon. The remains were placed in the vault to await burial. He leaves a large circle of relatives and friends who will miss him froui their inidst.
