Wells and family left for Port Huion, Wednesday. Ellsworth M. Thomas is spending a few days at Port Huron. Martin Schaller's book store will be opened about Sept. 10. Kelley & Johnson have opened a barber shop on E. Ann street. Andrew Reule and family have returned from Whitmore Lake. Bessie Burroughs, of Flint, is the guest of W. J. Booth and family.. C. T. Ceddes, of Adrian, was a caller at the Argus office, Thursday. Miss Lelia Kennedy, of Kalamazoo, is visiting friends in the city. W. W. Wadhams and family are passing a week at Whitmore Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Hosie, of S. Fifth avenue are visiting in Port Huron. Attorney G. W. Turnbull, of Chelsea, was in the city, Wednesday. City attorney J. W. Bennett returned on Monday from Huronia Beach. Editor J. O. Thompson, of the Dexter Leader, was in the city last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Binder, of Detroit, are visiting their parents in this city. Dr. Heneage Gibbes and daughter were at St. Clair flats the first of the week. J. Parker, D. Loomis and John Lawrence are at Strawberry lake for a few days. Caspar Smith, of Detroit, was in the city Wednesday, the guest of Wm. Walsh. Volney Chapin, postmaster, at St. Johns, is visiting his mother, Mrs. Charles Chapin. Mr. L. E. Cheever, left Monday for Charlevoix and will visit Chicago before returning. Robert and Alice Staebler and Miss left Thursday for the sn-state fair at Toledo. Mrs. Geo. Clarken and daughter Jennie, have returned from a three weeks visit in Cleveland. F. Stofflet and sons are at Mt. Clemens, where the young men participated in the bicycle race. Adolph Krause arrived from Grand Rapids, Tuesday, and will join Samuel Krause in an eastern tour. Rev. Max Hein is absent in Columbus, O. Miss Fannie Taylor has returned from Alpena. Geo. Jewell has returned from Grand Rapids. C. M. Osgood, residing nonh of the city, is seriously ïll. Hon. D. E. Haskins, of Jackson, was in the city Wednesday. Arthur Hawks and wife and James Hawks are visiting in Plainwell. Illness of her father has called Mrs. Max Hein to Fort Wayne. Mrs. Gerhard Josenhans and daughter are visiting in Detroit. Mrs. C. S. Eddy and children, of Cleveland, are visiting in the city. Dr. McLachlin, of Mooreville,was a caller at the Argus office yesterday. Mrs. Patrick O'Brien and daughters, of Detroit, are visiting in the city. Mrs. Madaris and daughter Carlotta, are making the trip to Duluth via the lakes. Mrs. Wm. G. Doty returned the first of the week from a visit with friends in Detroit. Mr and Mrs. W. E. Bannister, of Saginaw, are enjoying a vacation at Ann Arbor and Whitmore Lake. Mr. M. V. Sickley, of Macon, was in the city Wednesday, the guest of his niece, Mrs. Dr. Dell. Ernest Hill, of Saline, was in the city Wednesday, purchasing goods of J. Haller for his jewelry store. George Hangsterfer and D. J. Ross and families leave today for Oak Grove club house, Zukey lake. Chas. F. Dietas left yesterday for Washington to attend the biennial conclave of the Knights of Pythias. .Misses Mamie Peterson, of Chicago, and May Wunder, of Chelsea, are the guests of Miss Frances Caspary. Alrred Paul, Jacob Gwinner and Misses Gwinner and Carr have returned from a week 's o.uting at Whitmore Lake. Mrs. Louis Oesterlin, of Grand Rapids, who has been a visitor in Ann Arbor, is at present visiting rriends at Ionia. Clarence and Homer Herdman, who have been visiting their I er, returned Monday to their homes at Masón and Cleveland. Frank W. Garlinghouse and ily, Mrs. Haskins, Trudie Bangs, Jennie Hatch and Maud Murray returned from a two weeks' stay at Zukey lake. Rev. John Schweinfurth and family, Mrs. Bertha Baur and family and Mrs. Emma Weise and family made a Monday picnic party at Whitmore Lake. Mr. and Mrs. O. H. St. Clair and daughter, Myrta St. Clair and Mrs. W. D. Haines and family, left yester to spend a week camping at Whitmore lake.
