B. Amsden was in Brookly last Sat urday, on l)usiness. Miss Grace Smith, of Saline, is visiting friends in town. Wm. R. Rehluss expects to be the next county treasurer. Geo. Dickerson and wife attended the Adrián fair last Wednesday. Mrs. Bridget Ryan, of Detroit, is visiting her sister, Mrs. James Kelley. Messrs. Levvis and Meritbew are f urnishing our market with fine celery. Miss Carrie Fowie, of Moscow, is visiting her sister, Mrs. John Van Duyn. Mrs. Wm. Moehn and son, of Detroit, are visiting her sister, Mrs. Fred Briegle. Mrs. N Sernükl and little son Freilirick visited relatives in Ann Arbor last Wednesday. O. A. Waite and wife went to Clinton Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. VVoodward. Mrs. G. A. Fansel went to Ann Arbor, Tuesday, to visit her daughter. Mrs. F. O. Marty. A number of people from here attended the funeral of Miss Tillie lteidel, of Freedom, last Monday. Mrs. H. Kirchhofer and sons, Hugo and Ileina, attended the Ann Arbor fair Wednesday and Thursday. Mrs. D. Reed is at Bridgewater, taking care of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Brown, who is quite sick. Miss Miunie McAdam, who is teaching in our public schools, spent Sunday in Clinton, visiting her parents. Miss Emma Engle returned to Brooklyu to resume her former work having recovered from her recent i 1 1- ness. J. H. Ilollis and wife, who are visiting their daughter, Mrs. L. Freeman, at Chelsea, visited f riends in town a few days. The lecture '"Beyond the llockies," lelivered by Rev. 1). R. Snier at Arbeiter hall last Wednesday evening, was appreciated by all thatheard hiin. Mrs. Ohristian Marx returned home last Saturday from New York, and on Monday went to Blissfield to take the' position of head clerk in a dry goods store. A, gloom was cast over the village Jast Monday afteruoon on hearing of the death of Mrs. Jos. Goodyear. Mrs. Goodyear has been in poor health for several months, although death was unexpected. She was well known and loved by many friends. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn the loss of a devoted and loving mother. The funeral was held Thursday alternoon. Rev. Merrifield ofliciated.
