ALBXKT, Sept. 27.- Senator Hill and Hod. D.iuiel N. Lockwood, the caudidates for governor and lieuteuant governor rejpectively, were serenaded last night at the Keumore hotel, when they came from Saratoga, by the Albany Democratie Phalanx. FuUy 5,000 persons quickly gathered iu front of the hotel, which was brilüantly lighted up with electric lighta. A niighty swell of volees went up when Hill was introduced. He safd: "For this gracioua reception and the compliment o( thia serenade I tender jrou my sioce-re thanks. Thiademonstration ia a part of unezpected events of a day which to me has been ons Of mingltd surprise and embarrasamenfe. The aotlon of the Democratie conrentlon, which Is th ofloasion of this assemblage, and which was as unforeseen by you as by mysalf, tmposes responsibilitioi aad obllgatious of whloh I oannot spaak tonight. "Unwillintt as I was to receivs the honor which the #convention, in spit of my protest, has sought to confer upon ma, I am detp'.y touched by the unimial manifestation of confidence and esteem which aecompanled the action of the oonvsntion, and tonight I can oiily express in foeble languaije a small pirt of the gratitude wliich I feel toward the Democracy of New York."
