Shooting At A Chicago Judge

CHICAGO, Oct. l.-Judge Theodore Brentaño and his familyare in imminent peril. During last week shot woro ftred into the family residence on LaSalle avenue apparently with murderous inteut. Twice the shots passed through the win' dow in the judge's dresslng-room. On oq occasion the jude himself and on another Mrs. Brontano narrowly escaped the missilé. The third shot was flred while two little daughters were playing in the yard, and soems to have struck against the wall of the building. Judgo Brentano is at a loss to account for thü shooting. "It may be the work of some irresponsible person who is trying to créate a disturbance in the neighborhood," he sald. liAt all events I want it unde'rstood that I do not thlnk there was any attoirpts at assassination. 1 have placed the matter in the hands of a private detective agency and hope the investigation will be followed with good resulta."
