J. Kemiey, of Adrián, was in town last Monday, on business. Mis. Austin, of Norvell, is visiting her sister, Mrs. M. D. Blosser. H. Kirchhofer was in Detroit on business last Wednesday. Mr. Stitt, of Evans Lake, visited his daughter, Mrs. A. C. Aylesworth, last week. Miss I'auüne Pfeiffle is visiting at Brooklyn. Mrs. Dr. Iddings went to Lansing to visit her sister a few weeks. Mr. Jenter, of Ann Arbor, is visit ing his son, Ernest Jenter. Mrs. B. Conklin and children, of Cassopolis, are staying with relatives in town. Mr. and Mis. Geo Marx drove to Ann Arbor, Sunday, to visit Mr. and Mrs. Marty. Mr. and Mrs. Dr. C. F. Kapp visited friends in ïpsilanti and Ann Arbor a few days last week. Messrs. II. Steinbaeh and H. All men dinger, of Anu Arbor, suent Sunday with friends in town.; Miss Katie Marx spent a few days iii Adrián, visiting friends and attending the fair. Mrs. James Kelley and sister, Mrs. Bridget Ryan, spent Sunday with Mrs. II. Cash, in Brooklyn. Miss Minnie Gillett, of Lansinc, is visiting Mrs. Helen Gillett, of Sharon, and friends in town. Bev. Allen, of Detroit, preached a fine sermón at the Methodist church, last Sunday evening. N. Schmid and family drove to Sand Lake, Friday, to take possessiou of ' Lake View" cottage over Sunday. Bert Witherell attended the teacher's examination held in Anu Arbor last .Friday and Saturday. Mrs. Geo. Nisle has returned from a two weeks' visit with friends at Toledo, Detroit, and Ann Arbor. 11. Addis Leeson, wbo has been pending the F immer with his parents, returned to Albiou last Saturday to resume his studies at the college. A number from here took the excursión train to Ann Arbor last Wednesday and Thursday to attend the fair. All were very much pleased with the same. Mrs. Amos Lazell visited iiiends in Ann Arbor last week. Miss Nellie Hogan, of Clinton, was the guest of Miss Minnie McAdams, Tuesday. Among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Joe Goodyear were the foMowing: Mr. and Mrs. L. Traub, of Ditioit; Chas. Kramer, of Adrián; Mrs. Wm. Arnold, of Tecumseh; Mesdames Spiernagle, Schantz, Klien, and Marhle. of Chelsea. The Alpha Sigma held its first regular meeting at the school chapel last Mouclay evening. The society has about eighty members. A very interesting program was carried out. The question of the debate was: Resolved, That the iniser is a greater injury to society than the spendthrift. After the question was ably discussed on both sides, the decisión was made in lavor of the negative. Thenext meeting wil] be held October 15.
