Mr. John Griffith will give his imasterly interpretation of Mephistophiles in Goethe's "Faust" at the opera house Friday night, Oct. 12. Mr. Griffith has a clear idea of what he wants to accomplish, and goes at it vigorously. His Mephisto is a great personality and may rank with the best efforts of that great light of the English stage- Henry Irving. He follows Goethe's delineation of the character rather than the opinions of Goethe's commendations. His conception of the poet's idy seems ever to be before him, and is entirely original. The production will be staged with all the appropriaté accessories, both scenically and with electric effects.
