"The days of man are three score and ten," says the good book, which so few newspaper men and lawyers in Washtenaw county ever read. And we are told that if for any reason they exceed that number, yet are they years f uil of vexations anc troubles. But occasionally there is an exception, and one may be noted in the case of Hon. Alpheus Felch, of Ann Arbor, to whom a reception was given last Friday evening in honor of the 9oth anniversary of his birthday, which ñnds him enjoying very good health, and with mental faculties as keen and clear as when more than half a century ago he was governor of the state or holding a seat in the U. S. senate. It was a very pleasant occasion for the venerable statesman, whose upright life has been such that he has continuaily enjoyed the highest esteem and the utmost confidence of the entire peopleof this state. And though he has a score of years to his credit beyond the biblical limit, these years have been full of honor and enjoyment, and but added to the beauty and nobility of his life. -
