The large drill hall of the First rogi metft armory, capable of holding 7,00( people was packed the hear Thomas B Reed address the Republicana. Outside au overflow meeting was held which was kept in good humor muil Reed had oom plotod his speech insido, when he went outside and spoke briefly to the throng. His ftrst speech occupied an hour and a half in delivering, and was of course devoted principally to the tariff. Ex-Grovernor Oglesby and Clark E. Carr also made speeches. All the speakers carried the great audience and received a great deal of enthuslastlc applauseforthe poiuts they made. The Pupuliss added to the political furot by holding two meetings on the south side, one at Forty-third street and Wentworth avenue and the other at Forty-third and Wallace. At the lattor place Dr. McGlynn was the attraction, and the hall was flllcd to suffocation. Besides tha doctor tliere wero several other speakers, among them John Z. Wiiite, Populist candidato for congress. The enthusiasm was as great hore as at the other meetings, although the erowd here was not nearly as great.
