Extends The Classified Service

Washington, Nov. .".- The president has signed severál orders of impor tance in conncetion wl'th tlie civil service reform movement, making important exteasions oí the classifled service and revislng existing classifications so as to bring within the classiflcation raaiiy places heretoforu excluded. The order covers the custoins, Washington dcpartiuents, postal service, and ludían service. Other changes, involving an extensión of the classflcation, are still inder consideration and only await arrangement of minor details through conference between the civil service commission and the head9 of various dapartments.
