Geo. Kempf, of Chelsea, was in town last Thursday on business. Mrs. Charles Kreitner, of Norveil, has been visiting friends in town. Mrs. John Braun and daughter Lydia, visited at Chas. Braun's in Jackson, last week. Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly spent Thanksgiving witli their daughter, Mrs. li. Cash, in Brooklyn. Miss Emma Sauer is visiting friends in Jackson. Mr. Howard Macomber, who is traveling spent a few days at bis home. James Kelley has put a hot water heater in his residence. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Witherell, of Jackson, visited friends in town. Elmer Silkworth opened the winter term of school in the Zimmerman district last week Monday. Mr. John Schneider, of Adrián, lias bought C. E. Lewis' boot and shoe stock. Messrs. George Torry, Gust Kuhl, and Fred Burtless, of Ann Arbor, spent Thursday at their home. Miss Lena Schiable and sister, Mrs. J. Vanterbilt, of Roseland, 111., went to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Christian Marx. Mr. August Nisle, who is clerking for Schairer and Millen in Ann Arbor, carne home to spend Thanksgiving with his parents. Misses Edith Case, Heneritta Weir, and Edith Kapp, who are attending the Normal school at Ypsilanti came home to spend Thanksgiving. The Epworth League gave a social at the church parlors last week Wednesday evening. 'r he entertainment given by the young people of the Baptist church last week Thursday evening was well attended, and all that took part did nicely. The Alpha Sigma held their regular meeting at the school last Monday evening, and an interesting proram was carried out. The lecture delivered by James C. Ambrose, of Chicago, at the M. E. church VVednesday evening, was enjoyed by those who attended. Subject: "The Sham Family." The young ladies of Manchester gave a Thanksgiving reception at Arbeiter hall, last Thursday evening, in honor of the young men. It was largely attended and all report a line time. We are pleased to say that the masons from Jackson, who have been working on the Union Savings Bank building, have completed their work. The building is admired by all and is a great improvement for our town. Miss Rose Scully, of Iron Creek, is visiting friends in town.
