The chamber soleinnly received the petition and passed it in committea Moantime a Paris jourualist has been gathering the opinions of notable women. Areat many denounce the eorset. "Gyp" declares itunhealthy and nngraceful and says it turns the figures into one oommonplace mold, spoiling pretty ones and doing nothing to improve the uglyones. Mlle. Bartct of the Comedie Francaise simply declares it a horror. Jane Hadiug says tliat siuce she has beeu in America she is for a war of iiitlepeudence.
