And thi.s is the story of the orlme as tho pólice declared it to bo nítur putting togethor tho details they had collocted: Theysay that MissGing's invariable greed for nioney enabled Hayward to lure her out on her lonoly drives; that Hayward told her a story of a gold brick or a stolen diamond locket that eotild bo bought at great aacriflci-. On the flrst drive they failed to meet the man wlth the stolen property, who was peraonated by Erickson. On the sccond drive they met hlin, when it was arranged to meet again on Monday, when Miss Ging ahould brlng the money. When the time camo for the third trip Miss Ging had her money with hor, and getting into the buggy aC the West Hotel drove out Henuupin avenue, taking Blixt in at soTne point noar the Ozark flats. The two drove together to an out-of-the-way place on the IjHke of the Isles boulevard and met Krickson. A oonferenoe followed, and while Miss Ging was leaning over the side of the buggy talking with Krickson Blixt, wlio sar. beside her on the buggy seat, held the pistol to her head and fired without a word of warning. Erickson meauwhile stood by and witoessed the affair, and af ter the woman's struggles had ceased got into the buggy with Blixt and drove to the spot whorethe body was found. After eommitting the bloody deed Blixt returned to tlie city and disposed of somo of lus clothing to Ole Erickson. Erickson left next morning for Iowa FpIIs, Ia., where his vvifeis employod in a hotel, and thore had the clothing washed. He returned to Minneapolis and sold some of tho clothing to a pawnhrokor m Washington avenuo south. The remaiiider of the clothing was undoubtedly burncd in the furnace of the Ozark flats Blixt has made two confessions, the fh-st declaring that Hayward shot Miss Ging, but the last admitting that he (Blixt) did the shooting himself. He says that Hayward had persuaded Miss Ging that she could do well in the green goods business and arranged for her to meet the green goods agent on the outskirts of the city. On the night of tho murder Hayward drove Miss Ging about twelve blocks from the Ozark flats where Blixt was met and Miss Ging persuaded to let Blixt drive her the rest of th way, Hayward to follow in another buggy. Blixt, arrivlng at tho appointed place, called Miss Ging's attention to an object, and is she turned hor head heshot her. The motive of the crime was tho securing of the insurunra on Miss Ging's lile and the stealing of her money. Harry Hayward was greatly aftected ly ] the news broken to him at the jail that his brother lnul confessed, but lie still stoutly malntained bis innocence.
