High School Notes
School closes next Friday for a two weeks' vacation. The football team had their pictures taken Saturday. Several cases in regard to tuition, were decided by the school board Monday night. A complete list of the games played by the football team, will be given next week. Prof. Pattengill announced the names of the following members of the junior class, to take part in the exhibition, which is to be given at the close of this semester: Misses Bogle, Chamberlain, Campbell, Lusby, Swindler, Sykes, Walker, and Messrs. Bradsfcaw, Marshall, Voorheis, Willoughby. The Omega offers a prize of not less than $9 in value, for the best short story written by any high school student. The story is not to contain more than 3,000 or less than 2,000 words, and must be handed to the managing editor, or the committee on or before, Feb. 1, 1895. The program given by the Arena last Friday night was one of the finest that has been given this year. The subject for debate, as announced last week, was: "Resolved that a lawyer is justified in defending a person whom he knows to be guilty of murder." The affirmative won the debate, although the negative presented a strong argument. The quotations from Prof. Chute seemed to be the most attractive feature of the evening.
