Sunshine and rain, mud and groen lawns, are samples of !he winter weather, etc, ín this vicinity. A genuine thunder-storm visited us, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Minto spent Sunday in Ypsilanti. J. D. Olcott, of Rankiu, is visiting friends in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Andrus entertained guests from out of town the last of the week. The O. E. S. will indulge in a social at the temple, Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Sniith have returned from their visiting tour. Rev. J. Ward Stone is holding a series of interesting meetings at the Baptist church. Mrs. Alva Dexter is seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Egner have returned from their Detroit sojourn. The Misses Graham entertained their cousin, Dr. A. Graham, of Detroit, last week. Milan is inflicted with a sneak thief. Miss Gracia McGregor is the guest of Mrs. Tom Barns, of Dundee, for a few days. A burglar's skeleton key was found in the front door of H. Knight's store, Thursday morning, but the burglar was non est comeatable. The entertainment at the M. E. church, Wednesday evening, under the auspices of the Epwortb League, was a success in every way. Miss H. Vreeland is quite ar success as an elocutionist. The Epworth League elected the following officers at their last meeting: President, Miss May Bell; ïst vice president, Miss Hattie Jacobs; 2(1 vice president, Mrs. Belle Day; 3i vice president, Miss Eva Smith; 4th vice president, Mrs. Eva Woolcott; secretary, Miss Anna Jacobs; treasurer, Mr. James Morton. Xmas goods are to be seen in the store windows of Milan, regardless of the hard times, and they are tetnpting enough to please anyone and everyone, and either the merchants or the goods are bound to be sold. We venture to hope that it may be the goods; it would serve them right. Milan village is putting down a 4-inch drive well at the point of the triangle, for fire protection, and is also purchasing new hose which they are in need of; and now if the next Milan fire don't have the blaze taken out of it with cold water, we will know the reason why. Let all fires beware, for the firemen will be there.
