Denveu, Coló., Doe. 31. - The News has specials from Perkins, Chase, Dundy, Lincoln, Hays, Hitchoock and Frontier countios stating that terrible destitution prevails aiBOng the farmers in thosc counties, who are also aiüicted Wifch m epidemie of scurvy for want of wholesome food. The Nebraska state relief committee finds the demands on its resources too great to rospond to with the racans at its command. Hundreds oL families are without coal and there is 110 wood to burn. In Perkins county there are 000 destitute families. Railway mra say that since the beginning oí the cold snap a dozen peoplo have perished for want o fire and lood, whlle manv othc.'s are sutïering froin the same causes. lt is impossible to exaggerato the destitution as reported to the News and'it is absolutely necessary, if a great calamity is to be arerted that help bc sent speedily in tho way of food, fuel and clothing. Relief supplies, however, aro coming in to the state committee and are rapidly forwarded to tlie stricken district.
