Macos, Miss., Jan. 8. - '"Tbe bloodhounds llave strack the trail and are making a good run." ïhis is the report sent back from tlio posae that is chasing the bandits who liold up the Alabama Southern train two nights ago, and who, alboit "local talent" and "green hands" are likely to have ïiational reputation before they are killed or captured. Just before the rrrival of the north-bound train yesterday City Marshal Scott was wircd that two SUfiplclous characters suspected of being the robbers were on the train. He aroused Sheriff Darrah, but the train reaohed here before they got to the station. They met two men on the plank walk whieh leads to the station, but had no reason te think thoy were the ones wantod. Arriving at the station Deputy United States Marshal McCune told them that the two tiioy had met wore the ones wantod. No 'Prntice Hands Bere. Scott and McCuno got in a hack to head thein off and Sheriff Darrah followed thein back on the walk. Scott and McCune halted the men and what next occurred is ui most amusing. One of the robbers seizud Marshal McCune suddenly, disarmed him, and holding him between htmself and Seott, ordered the latter to throw down his gun. Scott could not fire without kitting McCune, and obeyed orders, ïhe seoond robber then pickod up Scott's shotgun and halted Sheriff Darrah, who came up at that time. Scott and McCune being disarmed were powerless to do anything f urther. With one robber pointing his gun and the othcr with his pistol in his face, they searched Darrah, but so hastily that they failed to find his pistol. Oiflcers Ordered to "Move On." They (the threc officers) were then told to move on and be "blamed quick about it." ïhe robbers leisurely walked back towards the railruad, and were not hcard from atterward-s, having crossed the railroad bridge. Bloodhounds were wired for, and when they arrived f roniMeridian thirty ruouuted men started out, and it is expected that they will be captured. One of the robbers wa thought to be a citien of this county who has just flnished a term in the Alabama penitentiary for horse stcaüng in Pickens county. The latost news from the chase begins this article.
