Homestead Workers Organizing

Homestead, Pa., Jan. 21. - The employés of the Homestead steel plant have stolen a march on the company and the Amalgamated assoeiation has again socured a foothold in the works by the organization of at least one lodgo, the ürst since the break of the big strike in 189:;. The organization was necessarily accomplished with much secrecy and it is understood that only tlie most trustworthy in each of the departments were sclocted for t la' inicial step and through thom it is hopod to regain the old-tüne power of the assoeiation in the mili. Tne attendanee at the opening meeting was between 1,000 and Ï.ÜOO. President Garland, of the Amalgamatcd assoeiation, was made president of the meeting and the newsaper men secretarias. The speakers, President Garland, Vico President Carney and Pólice Magistrate Doherty,of Pittsburg, all urged the men to carry on the workof organization.
