The board of fair managers of the VVashtenaw agicultural society held a meeting at the court house yesterday, and transacted a Iarge amount of routine business. Arrangements for the fair next September were made. It was decided to offer a series of prizes for the best school work, the prizes to consist of library books. The committee having this part of the work in hand will meet next Saturday at the office of Commissioner Cavanaugh, and arrange the schedule of school prizes, and will print and send the same to the teachers and school officers of the county. This is a new move, and one that cannot be too strongly commended. The farmers have no greater interests than their schools, and any effort on the part of the agricultural society to aid in the betterment of the schools is a laudable one, and one which if properly handled will bear much fruit.
