Sunset In The Woods

Ht'ro a. I lio 'neath shudy trees, ín nwtling woodland wweet aiid green, The suii's lut r;ys are oreeping through And lighting up the shadowy scene. The voices of the wood sing songs That chuer the sad and gloomy inind. TUe wind comes sof tly througli the treee And leaves tliem whisp'ring far behind. A placid stream runs purling by , And at its murrouring edges near The grand oíd oaks stand close and sway Whilo gazing in its bosom clear. Through all the wood the glowing lights And colora of the setting svui Are touching leaf and sprig and trunk As o'er the quiet stream they run. A yellow leaf comes flutt'ring down Into its gently Sowlng tide. A cricket's 'liirping in the grass Is softly ecboing far and wide. The golden tinte on forest leaves Have slowly faded with the day. The BhadoWB in the evening light Grow lonc and blond and die awar.
