The Inter-society Debate
The representatives appointed by the debating societies of the University met Saturday, and máde arrangements for the inter-society debate. It was decided to hold the contest March 8, in the law lecture room. The subject of the debate is "Resolved, That the United States Government should build and control the Nicaragua Canal." Messrs. Vogan, Block, Newton and Kimball will support the affirmative; Messrs. Wilcox, Crosby, Oxtaby and Sadler the negative side of the question. The second and third speakers of the affirmative and the fust and fourth of the negative are literary students; the rest are of the law depart ment. Each speaker will be allottcd thirteen minutes and an ipteresting musical program will be rendered between the debates. The object of the contest is to select speakers to cope with the representatives of the Northwestern university. And the ambition of the individual contestants together with the spirit of rivalry existing between the lits and laws insures that the preliminary fight of March 8 will be no less warm than the final struggle. Admission 25 cents.
