Dr. Cobern's Lecture

Sunday, February 10, at 10:30 a. m., at the Methodist church, corner of State and Washington streets, Dr. Cobern will preach on "The Old Lyric Gospels, Kecently Found on Mount Sinai." In 1892 and 893 a copy of the Four Gospels written in Lyric was discovered at he Convent of St. Katherine on Mt. Sinai. The textand translation of these curious manuscripts - which re 1,400 or 1,500 years old - have ust been published. The importnt bearing of this discovery upon New Testament study may be parially inferred frora the acknowldged fact that the gospels coramonly used in Palestine in early enturies were written in Lyric. Matthew is said to have originally written his gospel in that language, which was the ordinary spoken lanuage of the country. The sermón will be highly interesting and intructive.
