Un next Monday evening, Feb ruary nth, Miss Lucy Cole, teacher of music in the public schools anc of sight-singing in the school o music, will give a very instructive lecture before the Inland L ague on "how we teach the little ones to sing. " Miss Cole will illustrate her talk by exaraple from abc ut forty little children selected from her classes in the public schools. By practical example she will demon strate the result of her system anc show what progress can be made by the little ones in their música studies. She will also be assisted by two iittle pupils of Miss Bertha Hill on the piano and also sorae little ones of Mr. E. N. Bilbie on the violin. This lecture should fill the chureh to overflowing. Parents are prone to give too little attention to the work of their children in school and especially to their musical studies. Those who have not given the matter thought and investigation cannot realize the rapid progress children make in musical studies, and parents often make the serious mistake of thinking it best to wait until their children are ten or twelve years of age or older before beginning the study of music. Miss Cole we think will have no difficulty in proving that even younger children learn music as rapidly as other studies and that they make more rapid progress while young than when older.
