DISTRICT NO. 8, LODI. This school is in charge of Miss Mabel Wallace; it has an enrollment of Í2. The scholars have advanced nicely in rèading during the Jast year. The teacher is jweful in her work. The discipline in the school is good. Work on the blackboard is so arranged tliat it becomes useful and instructive for the children. Edwaid iïamel, Ann Arboi-, is director. D1STKICT NO. 13, LULU. The school has an enrollment of 30. The attendance is regular and the scholars are advancingintheir studies. The arithmetic class wascalled and re cited during the conimissioner's stay. The class showed a thorough knowledge of the work gone over during the term, hich is an indication of good teaching. The school should be provided with a nevv dictionary. It is one of the most important things in the school room. Mr. Michael Sage is teacher, Ann Arbor; Avery Downer, Aun Arbor, is director; Christian Gensley and William Deubel, Ann Arbor, are the other oflicers. SCHOOI, AT KKAIN'S UKL. This school is in charge of Mr. Geo. Renwick, of Salem. líe liad an exhibition of his work on the board, and his scholars did line work in explanations and in the stating of problems. Mr. llenwick is doing excellent work lor the school. Many of the patrons and parents were present in the afternoon to see the work of the children. This is comnaendable. It enconragee both pupils and teacher. Mr. Galpin s director. DISTKI CT NO. 2, LODI. Miss Alma Lyon, of Dexter, is in charge of this school. This is her Qrst ;errn. The school has a splendid )lackboard surface, thus affording teacher and pupils a good opportunity for illustration. There, is a good globe in the school: also a dictionary. There is one scholar partially in the eighth grade. Mr. Jacob Jedele, Weinberg, is director. The spelling match and school entertainment given at the school house at Frain's lake, Superior, was a great success. The house was lilled to its utmost capacity. The following program was carried out: Solo by Miss Uarrie Wright; declamations by Misses Florence and Elvira Geer, of Mr. Itenwick's school, John Meyer, of Miss Wright's school, Inez Depew and Don Voorhies, of Miss Duncan's school, John Connor and Grace Martin, of Miss Depue's school, Geo. McKin, of Miss Ableson's school, Abbie Vought, of Mr. Grill'a school, and a select reading by Master Clarence Shankland. The children acquitted themselves very creditably. Ilarry Kowden, ot the town line district, won the spelling pri.e. This meeting speaks well for the attention given to educational matters in the township by teachers and patrons.
