THE CUILDS DISTICT, AUGUSTA. Mr. D.W. Duflield, a gradúate of the State Aorwal, ia iu cliarge oL this school. It has the largest euiollmeut Of any district in the county in charge of 011e teacher. The nam es of 88 pupils appear on the rol], with an average attendance of 65. Mr. Duffieid is au earuest aud enthusiastic teacher, and thoroughly acquuinted with edticatioual methods. The children are given considerable oral work by tlie teacher. Mr. E. M. Ohilds, Whittaker, is director, The entertainment at the cliurch was well attended, and appreciated by tlie patrons and school oüicers. The l'ollowing program was presen ted: Music by the children frooi Mr. Meade's school; recitations by children trom ttot! different schools in the towtislup. Rosa iloovar and John llitchiughaui spoke tor Mr. Duffield's school; May O'iirieu lor Miss Dawson's school; Ilarry Pearce tor Miss McGregor's school; Anna Smith tor Miss Stella Harris' school, and Miss Potter for Mr. Meade's. The spelling match was spirited and close, with tlie following contestants: Eihel Childs, Eliza liitchingliarn and Edward Gabel, froui the Child's school, Win. Koberts,Wm. Hussel and Etta Essex, from Mr. Meade's school, Ralph Bethel and Richard Ainsby, irom the Morgan school, John Cady, Celia Kramer and Leona Bishop, froui the Bisliop school, Ida doss, trom the Lowden school. William Roberts won the prize, with Ethel Childs as second. The entertainment was an enjoyable, interesting and instructive meeting. Nearly all the teachers of the township were present. ENTERTAINMENT AT TUTTLE SCHOOL. The school house was nicely arranged by Miss Tuttle, and chairs were provided for the visitors. The school house was well filled with visitors from the different schools in the township. The musical part of the program was under the direction of Miss Alice (i. Tuttle. Reeitations were a good feature of the entertainment. Mary Tuttle, Annie Watling, Willie Kelly and Mabel Wright spoke. The following took part In the spelling contest: Fletcher Campbell, Ruth Ellis, Lou Youngs, Tuttle district; Nellie Spencer, Roy Marshall and Walter Spencer, from district No. 2; Sarah Pester, José Corbett and Jas. Moore, frotn district No. 6; Peari Fitzfield, Will Feil and Lee Barlow, from Rawsonville; Mabel Wright, E. Goveling and Ilarry King, from the Model; Cora Cooley, from the Allen; and Master Slayton, from the Thorn. The final contest was between three little girls, Sarah Pester, Cora Cooley, and ïiuth Ellis. Ruth Ellis won the flrst prize. The three children proved themselves good spellers.
