It is now coní5idered as a setUed fact that the siuut of oats may be absolutely preven ted by treating the seed according to the Jensen plan. This is simply to irnrnersé the seed oats iu hot water for a short time, by which every sruut spore is destroyed and a erop free from disease is insnred. No expense is involved and but slight labor. All that is to be done is tosoak the seed oats about ten minutes iu water at a temperature of iiearJy 135 degreea - not much ruore or less - and then spread them where they eau drain and dry as rapidly as possible. Use a thermometer to insure the right temperatura, which may be regulated by adding hot or cold water, as is required.
