Couutry Gentleman suggests some forms of timber supports, one of which is represente in the first figure shown in the accompanying cut. The single post supports not only the center of the horizoutal timber, but also a large portion of tbis timber without any pins or spikes to wcakeri it. In Fig. 2 is a uombinatiou of timbers giving great strength and leaving an entire opening below. These timbers will be very nseful in constructing baru.s with a full and free swcep acrosa the floor as well as for bridges.
