Marchionefs Li of China ia becorning known, now that the dethronernent of her husband, Li Hung Chang, is on everybody's tongue. She is described as a very beautifnl, and, for China, a learned womau, who looks 35 and is 55. Her husband's wealth is fabulous, and sho spends royally, though she keeps accurate account of every item. In her niagnificent homo on the banks of the PeiHo shelives in great splendor, snrrounded by son:_' birds, peacocks, aquaria, pottery, geuiü, botanical collections and 1,000 attemlants and servants. She has 2,000 coats, 1,200 pairs of "trouserettes" and 500 fur robes Her feet are so suiall that she is unable to walk more Ihan a few steps, but twice a day she bathes in öil of orange and acacia bloouis and takea au airing in a cooly sedan. Finally she dresses her hair in 50 ways, her favorite coiffure being a la griffin.
