Costly Explosion Of Chemicals
Toledo, March 11,- The Toledo high school building, afourstory brick structure oocupyiuK Che square bounded 6y Madison, Adams, Michigan and Tenth , streets, and one ot the best appointed educational iustitutions to this part of the country, was al most completely destroyed by fire between 1 and o'elock this inorning. It was a little before 1-o'clock whun a loud explosión that blew out part of the east wing of the building startled the few pedestrains who happened to be on the Street. A moment later fire burst forth froni the heart of the struccure and spread su rapidly that before an alarm could be glven the main portion of the building was doomed. The cntire Ure department was called out and managed to save the Scott manual training departmenc, which is situated at the north end of the building. The explosión was probably caused by chemicals in the laboratuiy. The loss is estlmated at $150,000, with vliat insuranco is not known.
