SANTA Kk, Marca dó.- Phil Hefley killed B. F. Holman at Liordsburg in January without provocation and without giving his victini a chance to tlefend hiinself. He was aequitted by a justlce of the peace and has since beun playing the part of "town terror," making many threats. W. R. Connor forbade him to come to his house to seo hi3 daughter and he stated that he would kill Connor. Thelatterarmed himself and by chance met Hefley. Heilwy Ürst shot at Connor with his six shooter. Connor returned the fire. Hefley shot again and Connoi then shot nwice and Hefloy droppea dead. The coroner's jury brought in a verdict :hat Connor was justifled in shootlng and Canuor has been released. Holman wag the sixth man Hefley had killed and none i;nl any chance todefend themselves.
