Cixcinnati, March a-3.- Benjamin Millor, a meehanic, has askcd the sub-treasury to redeem the remains of $865. For years he had been putting his savlngs in a building association. In anticipation of payment on his home ho drew hls money, receivmg $680 in notes and $165 In gold. He placed it in the top of an unused stove. He was horrified on returning home to find that his wife had built a flro in the stove. On extinguishing the fire the gold was found well done - Hke copper coins found in Pompeli- but the paper money, bemg in a tight roll, looked Hke a lump of charcoal. lt was opened, however, and the inside nnds of the bilis were not entirely deBtroyccl. Knough of all tho bilis wa9 savod to got tlie entire batch redeemed at tVice valuo by way of nfiidavits sent to Washington.
