Kirklaml, rópreseuting the sheriff of Jelïerson Uounty, has gone to Madison tor the purpose of laying before tiio govornor the matter of the treatment whioh the sheriff received at the hands of the frienda of a prisoner whoiri he was bringing trom South Dakota. The sheriff proceeded to Fierra, tí. D , for tho purpose of brtnging back Johu Armst.rong, who is wunted in Jetïerson on a charge ot obtainIng money underfalse pretences. He had previously obcained a requisition upon the governor of tíouth Dafcot from Governor Upham. The governor of tíoutli Dakota issued thu papers, but later determiued that there was no ground íor tho issuauce of the document and seut a lntter to the sheriff revoking the order for the removal of Armstrong. However the sheriff proceeded oa lus way to Wisconsin. He had reached Brookings with liis prisoner when the I'rionds of Aruiatrong carne to his rescue and forcibly released him. Armstrong escaped and the sheriff returned home.
