The Adrián Press thus tells the recent story of the pensioning of Jefferson Davis, of this city : It has come. The democratie party has at last provea that it would do just what the republicana feared. Many a northern soldier has failed to get a pension. They served faithfully and are crippled, and needy and destitute, yet can't get a pension, yet a few days ago, Jeft' Davis was placed on the pension roll by the democratie commissioner of pensions. What will the old veterans say to this? What will the republican politicians say? We have not spared the department for its blunders, but in this case, we must approve the action, whereby Jeflf Davis' name goes on the pension roll. Jeff is an Ana Arbor veteran and not the one whoru raanr wonld hang on a sour apple tivc. He has tried hard for years to get the republicans tograuta pension but without success, and now rejoiees that lu secures it under a democratie administration. We presume billious republicans will say that he would still be without it, if the democratie officials hiidn't supposed it was for Jeflf Davis the ex-president. But no matter. Jeff gets his $12 and is glad of it. So are we.
