Prof. Thomas To Publish Another Volume On Faust

Prof. Calvin Thomas, head of department of Germán, appeared before the regents Wednesday, and asked leave of absence of one year to go to Weimar, Germany, Goethe's old home, in order to colleot materials for the publication of the second volume of his Faust. The first volume, published in 1892, has reeeived veiy cordial notice in Germany, and it is ïnuch to the interest of the scholarship of the nniversity that Prof. Thomas be allowed leave of absence to finish tbe-eflitioii. He has now spent sixteen consecutive years in the service ! of the nniversity, three as instructor, flve as. assistant professor and e'ght as head of the department. He has lost in all these years oniy t.vo or three days time.
