The University is in receipt of another generons gift and the pleasant feature of the regents meeting, Wednesday was the announcemeut by President Angelí that Mrs. Clara Harrison Stranahau, of Brooklyn, N. Y., had giveu L25,000 to the university, the proceeds to be used for scholarships. President Angelí recfived tho ohock for that amonnt last Saturday, and it is now drawi rest. Tbe money is given by Mrs. Stranahan inniemoryof her father, Seth Harrison, who was during his lite i distiriguished politica! flgnre in Brooklyn, and to whose memory a stui i een erected in his native town. Th o income of the endowment is to go to the deaoendents of geth Harrissii, so long as any apply for it, and to aiiy needy student, it at the end of any ppriod of seven years no Harrison descendente put in au appearance. Mrs. SÉranahan acquired an interest in the nniversity throngh the faot that the chüdrea of Jndge H. R. Lovell, of Flint, was edneated hei-e, and they are her relatives. It was in Maroh, 1890 that the offer was first made, and it has been bangiiig fire until now. The beneficiaiy may be a student of auy departrnent, and uot more than $600 may be devoted to any one stndent for one year. If more than ono descendant present himself at the same time the incomo is to be divided per capita. At the time of graduation, if the beneficiaries have had a good röcord, they are to roceive $50 a year for each year of their college lifo. The fuiid is under the control of the president and the heads of tho departments of English history and mathematics.
