Sas Fbanoisco, April 18.- A Japanese resident of chis city sends the following connnunioation to a local paper: "I came from the far east a (ew months ago, and niy purpose was to see what you civilizeá natíondoing. Since I arrived in this city, reading your valuable papereveiy day and I am much surprised because the uiurdcr is almost daily occurrence in this country, besides this rubber, the Rev. Doctors robbing, eloping with other mens wife, etc. Kuch events are occurred every day, shocking inurder in church - that's awful, awful. "Where is civilization, whero is Christianity, whera is James Creelmanf P. S. Please sand words to J. Creelman that he ought to be a líctle more careful when he accusos other nations next time." The hit at Creelman, the correspondent who wrote up the atrocities committed by the Japanese solüiers at Port Arthur, shows that his criticisms struck home.
