Chicago, April 18.- With a church packed as full as it would hold of frionds of the deceased, many oí whom could nob get insldo t all, the funeral services over the reraains of James W. Scott, late proprletor of the Chicago Herald, were performed this morning, beginning at II o'clock in oíd St. James' (Episcopal) church, the offioiating clergyman being Bev. Ernest M S-ires, rector of tïraco (Episcopal) ohurch, assisted by Rev. Dr. F. W. Gunsaulus, pastor of Plyinouth (Congri-gatioual) church. The service was the benutiful one of the church and the choir of St. James provided the music. The honorary pall bearers were: W. C. Bryant, of Brooklyn, eecretary of the American Newspaper Pubiisher's issociation; Ferdinand W. Peck; Norman Williams, president of the Chicago club; John H. Hamline, president of the Union League club; Melville E. Stoce, vice president of the Kellowship club: A. T. Fack;u'd, president of the ?ress club; James Griffon, president of he Chicago Typographieal union; H. W. iawjey, oditor of the Times-Herald; H. I. Kohisaat, Bobert A. Wallor, Harry ü Sclfridpe, and Ernest A. Hamiil. The igho active pallbearers wereold employcs of the Herald as follows: Robert Ansley. A. B1, Portman, Ciiarles L. Lioveland, E. W. Jenks, F. R Van Hamer, C. H. ihoades, Charius A. Barnard, Frauk P. Eïüun.
