The civil service commission at Washington has orrlered that an examiuation be held in this city on Saturday, May 4, 1895, comnleiioini,' at 6 o'clock a.m. for the grades of clerk and carrier in the city post office. Only ciizens of the. United States can be examined. The age limitations are as follows : For carrier, not under 21 nor over 40; for all othcr positions not tinder 18 years. No application will be accepted for this examination unless filed with the uudersigued in complete fonn, on the proper blank, before the hour of closing business on April 39, 1 895. The civil service commission takes this opporttmity of stating that the examinations are open to all reputable citizens who may desire to enter the postal sefvioe, without regard to their ;il afflliations. All such oitizens, whether deraocrats or republcans or neither, are invited to apply. They shall be examined, graded and certified, with entire iinpartiality, and wholly j without regard to their political views, or to any consideratiou save their efficiency, as shown by the grades they j tain in the examination.
