IOFKICIAt,.l Office of Board of Public Wokks. 1 A s K A.KBOK, Mich., April 1, 1S96. J Regular Session. Called to order by President Clark. Roll called : Present President Clark, Bullis. Absent, Mr. Schuh. The committee appointcd to employ an assistant engineer, reported that thy had seeured the services of Edwin W. Groves at the rato of $3. 00 per day, he to fnrnish his owu instrument. The action of the commtteo was concured ín by the Board. The city engineer submitted the elevations of the grade of the manhole of a portion of the inaüi sewer as reqnested at a former session of the board. Mr. Bnllis moved that uuloss otherwise ordered by the President of this Board, that the street conmrissioner proceed, on April 22 ncxt, with a proper force of men to put State street, scwered by Contractor Herman Hutzel in good passable condition, suitable for travel, said contractor having failed to do so as reqnired by his contract, and that there bo retained from the nioneys duo said contractor a sufflcient amount of monoy to reimburse the city for doing said work ; and that a certified copy of this resolution be served on said contraetor to-morrow morning. Yeas - President Clark, Bullis. Nays - None. Pres. Clark moved that the board recommend that the council take suchaction as they deern advisable to the end that the following places be irnproved to such an extent as they shall see fit for travel to-wit : corner of Prospect and East University avenue, East University ave. from Prospect to Packard, Hill street between Church and Forest ave., Forest ave. south of Hill, Washte naw ave. between Forest and South University ave. , Observatory street between Gcddcs and Belser and on South Univresity between Washtenaw and Oxford. Yeas- President Clark, Bullis. Nays - None. Mr. Bullis moved that the city engineer be instructed to go to Ypsilanti, April 20, and procure if possible new manhole covers to replace those which have proven ineffective. Yeas - President Clark, Bullis. Nays - None. President Clark moved that the Clerk advertise for bids for two carloads of white swamp oak plank. Yeas - President Clark, Bullis. Nays - None. The petitions of W. H. Freeman and W. E. Pardon to connect with the Liberty streot lateral were granted. The petitiou of Schneider Bros. to connect L. C. Weinmann's water motor with the Washington street lateral was granted. The petition of Schneider Bros. to build a sub-lateral to the Liberty street lateral in the alley east of the building of Sid W. Millard, npon motion of Mr. Bullis, was granted. The petition of Hutzel & Co. to make eonnections with the Washington street lateral was laid on the table uutil the flnsh tanks of such sewer are put in. On motion the Board adiourned. Clerk.
