Miss Ellen Collins
Miss Ellen Collins, who is the first woman to take the place of school inspector in New York city, has been actively interested in the cause of education and has also been a worker in the cause of tenement house reform. She was prominent in the New York branch of the sanitary commission and was highly commended for her wise and económica! admiuistration of its affairs. She is a member of the Harvard annex soinmittee and has for years been a visitor to the institutions on the islands. Miss Collins' term will expire Jan. 1, 189C. There is no salary attached to the office, but actual expenses are allowed.
