Philadelphia, June 3 -As i result of the intense notio an unkuown man suc cumbed to the heat in Fernwood cerno tery and died a few hours later. Froiii papei-B ou him it is thought that he was E. Weiss, of New York. Mrs. Ellen (Jasey, aged 5u, was overeóme at her home in Wilsontowu, Alontgomery county, auii died shurtly afterwards. Almost at the same momont her husband, John Casey, was driving a wagon near Ardmore when a thunder storm came up. His wagon waa struck by lightning and completely demoiiahed aud he was thrown out and severely injured, Henry Ötumgardt, Mgod 30, was looking at a thermometer in Juiikintown when he collapsed, and it is thuught he will die. A large number of prostr ations were re poited. In Reading the temperature was 101 at 8 p. m., and in Altoona 9i. The thunderstorm was general In tho eastern 6ection of the 9t,ate. In Mount Carmel it was so severe ihat houses were unroofed and trees blown down, while the coal breakers in the path of the storm were also damaged. In the rural distriots of Pottsvillu crops were badly damaged by hail and rain.
