Miss Grace Lavey was surprised by a number of her friends Monday af ternoon, it being her seventh birthday. Abont two hundred people witnessed the ball game between the Nortl' Webster and South Webster last Saturday. The Misses Anna and Nellie Connors and Nell Daley visited Ann Arbor Thnrsday. Frank Lernmon is again in his old position with Davis Bros. & Co. Benj. Culy has returned home froin West Caro, Ohio. Mrs. Bmily Van Orman is entertaining her friend, Mrs. Roe, from Now Orleans. Frank Murdock arrived here from Plymouth Thursday and will speud the snmmer at the home of his ruother. Miss Florence M. Potter, of St. Clair, is visiting relatives in this place. Mrs. C. C. James had the pleasure of eutertainüig her niece from abroad for a f rw weeks. Miss Lizzie Fitchell, of Ann Arbor, has been engaged to teach iu the Dexter high school next year. y -s Nellie Copeland has accepted the position of preceptress in the Ovid high school. Miss Copeland gradnates at the State Normal this year. Miss Clara Dolau andfriend attended the í uneral of Miss Monks in Piuckuey Monday. Mr. Frauk Carpeuter is on the sick list. M. Gavin and sisters, of Northfield, speut the Sabbath here. No school in district number three of this town this week on account of the teacher's illuess. Mr. Judson, of Chelsea, was on oui streets Friday. Wm. Keiler has moved nis fainily to Ypsilanti. The high school commencement exercises will be held in the opera house Thursday evening, Jnne 20. Mrs. Frauk Blomfield is at Olivet this week. Born to Mr. and Mrs. D. Stofoot a son, June 1. The Misses Daley spent Mouday with their mauy Pinckney friends.
