The Chicago Times-Her-ud oí last Sunday contained a bit of information which is of interest to all friends of the University of Mioihgau. It relates to the founding of six scholarshlps in the university, aud is as follows : By the last will of Henry Phillips, Jr. , secretary of the American Philos' ophical Society, six scholarships in the University of Michigan at Auu Arbor are established, eaoh wortb. $200. Four properties in Philadelphia are set aside, the income from which is to be devoted to these scholarships. The willsays: "I recommend that these properties be not sold, mortgaged or othp.rwise disposed of as they are in the heart of the city and are an excellent investment, to be given to the regents and their successors in trust for the establishment and maintenance of six scholarships in the denartment of the university kuown as the department of literature, science and the arts, the said scholarships to be known and designated as the Phillips scholarships. These are to be given to the studeuts who will study Greek and Latin onef ourth of the time they are in college. ' '
