A Horse Thief Jailed

A horse was stolen from Sid Harvood, of Pittsfield, last Thursday moruing. It was hitched to a cart and tied to a fence by the owner while he went no the field to out sonie shrubbery, whea the thief oame along and drove off with it. He was captnred by Officer Canfleld uear Ida, Monroe couuty, with the horse and gives his naine as Jacob Haffner. He is now in jail. Saturday morning he attemped to dig his way out of jail with an oíd knife bilt was discovered before he got down to the steel bars and fonnd how futile his efforts were.
