The regents of the University have raised all the fees of the students $5. They decided not to abolish the degree of B. L. and not to confer a degree upon Norman Cameron. They declined to accept the advice of Dr. Ellis, of Detroit, not to find out whether the law removing the homeopathie department to Detroit and will continue the department here until the law is legally decided. Ben ton Hatchett and Judge Graves have been chosen by the regents to test the validity of the law relating to the removal of the homeopathie department. The following appointments were made : Assistant professors at a salary of $1,600, for three years: Joseph H. Drake, Latin ; Frank C. Wagner mechanical engineering; G.C.Huber, histology; Alviso B. Stevens, phanuacy; Fred C. Newcomb, botany ; A. W. Lloyd, philosophy, was made acting professor at $3,000 for one year ; George A. Heuch and Max Wiukler being reappointed m Germán at $1,600 and $2,000 respectively for one year. The three year $1,200 appointments were : Ernst Mensel, Germán ; Earl B. Dow, history; and A. G. Hall, mathematica'; George Rebec, philosophy; for one year at $1,200. J. A.. C. Hiïdner and Lorenzo N. Johnson were reappoiuted instructors in Germau and botany. Keene Fitzpatriok was reappoiuted instrnctor in the gymnasium at $1,000. C. G. Wrentmore, drawing; Karl E. Guthe, physics; Tobias Dickhoft', Germau, and Clarence L. Meader, Latin, were reappointed iustructors at $900, and also Frank R. Little, biology, and Ernst Voss, Germán. New appointments to flll vacancies were made in the $900 instrutcorjclass as follows: Louis A Strauss, English ; E. C. Goddard, mathematics; Charles B. Gillis, astronomy; E. E. Brandon, French; H. F. L. Riechle, Latin; Edgar Pierce, philosophy ; H. Jim Goulding drawing; H. L. Coan, mathematics; V. E. Frncois, French; W. D. Thomlinson, history. Assistants at $300 were appoisted : W. C. Gore, English; Charles W. Gray, English; and C. E.Roeddler, Germán. In the chemical laboratory, Perry. Tro w bridge aud Moses Gomberg were reappointed insruetors in orgauic chejuis'try at $100 and Walter Seotten and Carlon D. Morris as assistants.
