Bbooklyn, July Ib.- The orew of the United States cruiser Cinclnnati wero astir early and the decka of the ship got an extra sorub and polish ín honor oí the iistinguished visitors from Cinclnnati, haaded by Mayor John A. Caldwell, who weio to present un elabórate silver service to the ship trom the citizens of the city liter which sh is narued. When the oommittee, consisting of Mayor Caldwell, Congressman J. H. BroLuwell, Polioe Commiasioner George Henshaw, Perry S. HeaCb, W. W. Peabody, Jr., Julias Fleisciniian, Dr. C. R. Holmes, CoIoubI Aleiander Gordon (of Governor MoKinley's staiï). Dr. K. M. Johnson and LioutenauD Charles S. Bromwell, U. tí. A., accompauied by Lieutenants Sutherland and Osterhaus, arrived on f.hc navy yard tug they were met by Rear Admiral liunce and Captain Glass, Commodore Sicard, Captain Rogors and all the officers on duty at the navy yard. The silver service, which consists of eighi, silver pieces lined with gold, was exhibited on a skylight on the quartpr deck. The committee was escorced to the quarter deck where Mayor Caldwell preaented che service. After the speech making was finished the Cincinnati represen tatives and visitors, a number of whorn were ladies, were entertained by the ship's officers to a dejeuner in tlie ward room.
