Miss Kate MoCabe is entertaming her cousin for a few weeks. Mrs. Wm. Moss and son, Leni, of Lansing, were the guests of Mrs. Taylor and farnily last week. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rockwell, of Foster, speut Sunday with friends here. Charles McGilvary and wife.of Jackson, were the guests of her mother last week. Mr. Hoff, of Pinckney, oalled on some of his old friends last Wednesday. Geo. Boyden was in Pinckney Thursday. B. Hopkins made a trip to Chelsea one day last week. A large nnmber from here attended the picnic in Jackson's grove last Friday, given by the Maccabees. of Pinckney. Mr. Birkett is moving some of his tenant houses to Portage Lake and will use them as cottages for campers. Miss Caroline Fleming will spend the Slimmer in Chicago. Aden Cushing and wife visited in Ann Arbor on Wednesday. John S. Pacey was in Marión on business the first of the week. Jesse Parsons made a business trip to the county seat Friday. Henry Simms is puttng up a new wind mili. Qnite a number from here attended the blue ribbon at Detroit last week. Mr. Stoup and family, of Ypsilanti, are camping at Portage. Mrs. J. Schieferstein, of Chelsea, is spending a few days at her old home. Cari Vanriper, of Fowlerville, was on our streets Monday and Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Phelps are entertaining guests for a few week. Claude Chapin and sister, Miss Flossie. were the guests of Miss Waite over Sunday. Mrs. A. Chamberlain has been entertaining Miss Viola Bliss,of Ann Arbor. Rev. Stanley Blomfield is supplying thecpulpit of the Webster Congregati onal church. Mr. and Mrs. D. Litchfield and son, of Chicago, are the guests of friends here this week. Thos. McLaughlin, of Jackson, was with friends in the village last Thursday. Mrs. Charles H. Stannard and Miss Maud Buchanan are visiting friends at Bay View for a few weeks. J. Carraody, of Chicago, is visiting his fiiends here for a short ime. Mrs. James Smalley and Miss Ollie Morris, of Detroit, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Morris. Miss Lovejoy, of Detroit, is spending a few weeks with friends here. Rev. Mr. VanOmmeran, of Grass Lake, visited friends in the village last Tuesday. Miss Blanche Cushman is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Dr. R. C. Hepburn, of Evart, for a few weeks. Ohester Johnson, of Ottawa Lake, spent last Thursday with his father. Omar Moore is entertaining his friend, George Adams, of Chicago, for a few days. Harry Houston,"of Saginaw, is visiting A. K. Collins this Jweek. Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Tuthill.of Green Oak, was entertained by some of their friends here last week. Fred Rehm, of Chicago, is the guest of friends for a short time. Mrs. E. Bennett, of Cassopolis, is the guest of Mrs. Henry Gregory. Miss Lizzie Garreghty is home for the summer. Miss Sarah Cavanaugh visited Ann Arbor friends last week. Mrs. John Joys is entertain ing her daughter for a few weeks. Mrs. Wm. Riley, of Jackson is visiting friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lemmon were entertained by some of their Jackson friends last week. Rev. and Mrs. McConnell are entertaiuing their son from Lansing for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Kay, of Northville, are the guests of friends here this week. Mrs. Fannie Hall is entertaining her cousin, Jep A. Martin, of Detroit. Messrs. Nickels, Nixon and Donahue, of Ann Arbor, are spending a few days at Portage Lake. Alfred Davis jhas purchased the property known as the Gray lot on B street. and sold the north half of it to Alonzo Olsaver. Both gentlemen will at once proceed to have handsome modern dwellings built. Miss Carrie Taylor returned home Sunday, after a weeks stay with her grand parents in Northfield. Miss Hattie Lucas entertained her cousin from Mt. Clemens several days this week. The farmers in this vioinity have completed their wheat aad oat harvest. Some have threshed their grain and the yield is better than expected. The Hurón river has reached the lowest mark that it has for some time.
