Boyd's place on South Main street and is now open for business. A young man froin Manchester will offlciate at the M. E. church next Suniay nioming and eveniug. Mrs. F. M. Hooker, of this village, dropped dead Wednesday afternoon at Cavanaugh Lake resort of heart disease. She had just arrived there and appeared as well as she had been for a long time. It was expected that she would go suddenly at last, as she was subject to heart disease, trat being unusually well it was uuexpeoted then and a grcat shock to the family and friends. She was about seventy years old and well and favorably known and will be sadly missed by her husband and three surviviug daughters. She had a very large circle of friends who will sympathize with the femily in their great loss. The work ou Mili Lake Drain is progressing finely and it will probably be completed early in October. Ben Hawley has the frame of his new house on Park street up and it will soon be completed. The rain of last week was invaluable to crops. It is many years since we had such a rain here at this time in July. Beans, corn aud potatoes promise an abundant erop. Gabe Freer, of Lima, had flve sheep killed by dogs last Monday night. Grading and the erection of new buildings still continue at the stove f actory. They are making extensivo improvements. . The market has opened on the new deal but arrivals as vet are light. Wheat brings 71 cents for red or white and oats 26 cents. Rye has advanced and brings 47 cents. Barley not yet offered but is nominal at 90 cents. Beans are nominal at SI. 60. Potates, 30 cents, butter 13 cents, eggs 10 cents. A Macoabee excursión to Detroit, is idvertised for August 7 with f are frorn Zíhelsea for the round trip, $1. 10. Burt Watson, of Unadilla, is now jook-keeper in the Chelsea Savings oank. Dr. and Mrs. McColgan still linger in Canada, where they went to attend the funeral of the doctor's sister last week.
