Virgil Burnettt, of Bowling Green, Ohio, spent Sunday with his inlaw, James Stevens, of Lodi. Mrs. Burnett is making an extended visit with her paren ts. Mr. Burnett is a well known former citizen of Washtenaw count,y, and a member of the law department from '78 to '79. He is very enthusiastic as to the prospects of Wood county, in which is situated Bowling Green. He purchased 280 acres of hard wood lands and is engaged in cutting off the timber and sawing the same. His mili has a capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 feet a day. He cnts mainly bill stuff f or rig timber f or the Standard Oil Co. He is a little interested iu oil, but says he don't intend to follow itup, but of course he can't teil whatthe future may bring forth. The oil territory is right in the center of Wood county. It is growing in the direction of his land.good wells having come in with in a mile, so that he looks forward to the time that he may be right "in it. " A new $200, 000 court house is being built in Bowling Green. Also a f60,000 court house which is to be one of the finest in northwestern Ohio. Only onehalf of Wood county is tinder cultivation. There is much wealth there, the annual receipts from the oil alone being from eight to nine mlliou dollars Mr. Burnetfc's work seemstoagree with him and he is looking well and as stout and cheery as of oíd. He has the build of a successful oil operator.
